Terrific Terroir

Prince Edward County has become such a vibrant community it really is amazing. On Saturday the wine industry held it’s annual Terroir wine festival at the Crystal Palace.

With over 24 wineries open over the last decade from none and the emergence of gastronomy as a major force from this community, the event is a wonderful expression of our “somewhereness“. This is the term Matt Kramer of Wine Spectator magazine uses as his translation for the french term terroir.

There really is a special “somewhereness” to Prince Edward County be it the wine, food, people, history, etc… It was great to talk to winemakers who were sharing their wines and business expansion stories with me or claiming their coup’s they just brought back from the “seriously cool chardonnay” tasting in London, England where Prince Edward County wines, left a serious impression on some of the world’s finest palette’s.

Needless to say there were some really great wines and yummy food along with good conversation at the event.

Clearly there is something seriously cool happening in Prince Edward County with its distinct somewhereness. I am looking forward to enjoying more if it at one of our next events like Arte Vino, Six Barrels Six Chefs or the Jazz Festival just to name a few! Hope to see you there.
