No sooner was another full house at Creative Minds over than yet another amazing event was on hand. The Busy Hands Craft Sale is one of many examples of the exciting and creative business and social activities happening in Prince Edward County.
Like many things in Prince Edward County what is big now started small. Vicki Emlaw of Vicki’s Veggies and Bay Woodyard of Honey Pie Hives fame were looking at ways to extend their sales season and basically started a craft sale in their kitchen and moved it around every year until it found it’s spectacular annual home in the light and open loft space above Books & Company.
What exactly is Busy Hands? Well it is definitely a vibrant and high quality craft sale with almost four dozen local and crafty vendors. The vendors range from Vicki and Bay, to Peter Penguin a multi-media interactive toy, kids crafts, hats, photography, baked goods and much more.
The event however is much more, it is certainly the perfect place from which to find many unique gifts and stocking stuffers for Christmas, it’s a place for youth to learn the art of the craft and test their entrepreneurial chops at sales and marketing of their products. It seems to be an innovation space, a place for new product development from sock creatures, to hot sauces and interactive multi-media educational toys and new product launch as well.
It’s also a huge social event where young, middle aged and old go to hang out, have a warm sip of cider, be with family members, see old friends and meet new ones too. It’s an incredible draw for the book store as well, as hundreds pop by to pick up a book or magazine and have coffee klatch catch ups at adjoining Miss Lilly’s café.
It’s so wonderful to see the creative minds in the county developing yet another fantastic business and social opportunity for those with busy hands and to unite and do so much more than business.
